Viaduct “MID SPAN” Kit    Laser Cut Self-Assembly Model (OO Gauge)

MODEL REQUIRES GLUE & SOME CRAFT SKILLS

These kits are inspired by the viaducts that lie on the West Highland Line in Scotland. In particular, the Rannoch Viaduct North of Rannoch Station and the Gaur Viaduct South of the station. There are 3 base kits. One for the 2 end “parapet spans” of Rannoch; one for the 2 end “parapet” spans of Gaur; and a single “Mid” span kit which can be used in multiples to suit your requirements on the number of spans you wish. The actual Rannoch has 9 spans in total and Gaur 5.

These instructions cover the Viaduct “Mid Span”. Note this kit MUST be used with either the Gaur or Rannoch Parapet Span kits.

This bespoke 1 x A3 laser cut 3mm plywood sheet (Fence posts on 1.5mm ply) model has been designed (in 1/76 scale) to reflect the detail of this iconic viaduct.

The Viaduct requires glue. Choose a glue that allows at least a minute before setting to allow adjustments to be made during the build. Always test the build before using glue.

In all cases the engraving faces outwards!

OPTIONS

 

The viaduct can be assembled with a variety of options:

  1. Mid span kits can be purchased to increase the length of the viaduct. Each Mid Span kit will add 282mm to the length.
  2. The height of the central piers can be adjusted slightly by either gluing the “telescopic” parts slightly further out OR by cutting the lengths of the telescopic parts so they shorten.
  3. The central pier has the option of either an “on land” pier with a square base OR as an “in water” pier where the base has pointed ends to divert the water flow around the pier

This will be posted to you in a postable A3 cardboard box with instructions and the two flat pack A4 wood sheets.  This design is by Iain Ross and based on his research into real highland rail buildings. It is sold under agreement with him.  This model comes with a photo of the assembled 3D wooden product and full making stage by stage instructions by Iain Ross.
